  • Injured Sea Otter - This old male southern sea otter had a severe injury, from a suspected shark attack, leaving a nearly amputated left rear flipper. Karl Mayer and Erin Lenihan, of Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Sea Otter Research and Conservation (SORAC) program, were able retrieve the mammal. Unfortunately, with the injury and its poor health, the otter was euthanized.
